Obituary of Primrose Nnana Bogatsu
She was born on the 30th of March 1986 in Tlhabane, Rustenburg. She was the first of four children being Precious, Valerie, and her predeceased beloved brother, Given born to the late Mr Matshidiso and Mrs Queen Bogatsu.
She began her educational journey at Lekwakwa Primary School in Tlhabane. She then attended Kalafi High School in Letlhakeng before completing her secondary education at Herman Thebe High School in Matau. Committed to fulfilling her career in serving the people, she furthered her education by obtaining a Certificate in Community Development from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and later earned a Bachelors degree in Public Management from Regenesys Business School.
Primrose began her professional career in 2004 when she joined Anglo American through a mining learnership programme. From 2005 to 2016, she served as a Community Development Worker (CDW) at the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, where she dedicated herself to serving and uplifting communities.
Her political journey began in 2005 when she became an active member of the ANC YouthLeague, serving until 2012. In 2013, she joined the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), where she held several leadership positions. She served as a member of the Regional Interim Leadership Core in the Bojanala Region. From 2014 to 2018, she was elected as an Additional Member of the Bojanala Regional Command Team (RCT). Between 2018 and 2022, she served as Deputy Secretary of the Bojanala Regional Command Team. In 2022, she was elected Deputy Chairperson of the North West Provincial Command Team (PCT) of the Economic Freedom Fighters, a position she held with dedication until her passing.
In public office, Primrose served as a Public Representative (PR) Councillor for the EFF at the Bojanala District Municipality from 2016 to 2021. From 2021 to 2023, she served as a Public representative Councillor at Rustenburg Local Municipality. In 2023, she was deployed as a Member of the North West Provincial Legislature, where she continued to serve the people of the Province with commitment until her passing.
Primrose was a devoted mother, loving sister, aunt, colleague, leader and friend. She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Remofilwe Prudence Bogatsu, and her son, Kgotso Bogatsu. She is also survived by her two sisters, one nephew, and three nieces, all of whom will cherish her memory.
After a courageous battle with breast cancer, Primrose passed away, leaving behind a legacy of service, compassion, resiliency and unwavering dedication to her family. She was a woman of faith and purpose, whose kindness and determination touched the lives of many. Though she is no longer with us, her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
